The socialist troika of negotiators for the election of the new president is following with interest the effort of Enkelejd Alibeaj in finding the candidates proposed by the opposition for the second and third rounds.
But at a time when Alibeaj’s first meeting with 23 lawmakers on Thursday produced eight names of potential candidates, the Socialists have sent a reminder to the leader of the Democratic parliamentary group, also the commanding chairman of the Democratic Party.
We say the three socialist negotiators “in the second and third round we will not nominate candidates and it is up to the opposition to nominate”.
They recall Enkelejd Alibeaj that “The proposal for President should come with support firms from the opposition”.
Taking for granted the fact that Alibeaj will continue this process with only 23 deputies who went to the meeting on Thursday, then he will be in the conditions when from the list of 8 candidates he chooses only one.
To submit the candidacy to the secretariat of the assembly by the afternoon of this Sunday, the name seems to be attached to the name of 20 signatures of proposing deputies as required by the constitution.
On Thursday evening, Alibeaj consulted with Mesila Doda, Fatmir Mediu and Agron Duka. On behalf of the inclusive in this internal consultative process of PD, Alibeaj’s generosity has been extended to the group of deputies supporting Berisha who do not agree and have opposed the inclusion of Alibeaj in the presidential dialogue table with the mandate of Edi Rama.
His invitation to meet with the re-establishment group on Friday afternoon has received a resounding rejection.
