US Ambassador Yuri Kim has shown support for the people of Ukraine who have been facing attacks by Russian forces for weeks.
Yuri Kim: We have seen President Putin launch an attack on Ukraine since February. As Biden said in his speech, Putin had miscalculated, he thought he would enter Ukraine and the world would open the way for him, but he faced a strong wall, he faced the Ukrainian people.
It is an honor to be here today with my friend and colleague Ambassador Shkurov and to show our support for the Ukrainian people. I believe that every Albanian who is present today agrees with this. I can not only say that you are part of Europe and expect to become part of the EU, but because no one knows more than Albanians what it means for someone to deny your existence, I know well what it means when someone is against you.
No one knows better the horror of fleeing for the bombs of terrorism, no one knows better the agony of opening graves for relatives who have died or worse, the inability to give a grave to those who have died. No one knows better the value or comfort when reaching out to a friend in need. I join you today to express solidarity with the people of Ukraine.
