Marina and mother Natalie have traveled alone from their city Dnipro in Ukraine straight to Albania describing scared thousands of kilometers. they found peace in vVora where they return no longer as tourists, but as war refugees.
The mined roads or the fear that the car would leave them in the middle of the road was the nightmare that accompanied them, says 36-year-old Natali Antonova.
“From the day of the first explosion we groaned in fear and anxiety. We got together and went out on the street. The eye could only see people leaving homes, even with pets with them. We left for Romania, Bulgaria and northern Macedonia to then arrive here in Vlora. My sister is in France, while my mother and I came here. I am saddened every moment by the tragic fate of Ukraine and us, its inhabitants. “I want this war to end as soon as possible and for us to return to rebuild our destroyed cities.”says Natali Antonova.
They have been living in Vlora for 10 days, where they are accommodated for free in a city hotel. but the 57-year-old navy mother to reward the hospitality has decided to work in the hotel laundry.
“I have a small business in Dnipro, but now I live and work in Vlora. I work here in a hotel. I did not think that I would love Vlora and the Albanians so much. I did not know that the Albanians would love us and welcome us. But today we are all bad, from what is happening in Ukraine. Every day we feel sad for the fate of our compatriots in Ukraine. I do not know what our future will be like, but we all pray for Ukraine“, Says Marina Antonova.
Ukrainians who came to Albania with their vehicles since the beginning of the war are being accommodated in hotels and houses thanks to the generosity of Albanians. Other families are expected to come by bus to find shelter thanks to civic initiatives.
