While today he refused to sit at the table with the head of the SP parliamentary group, Taulant Balla and other representatives of the majority, Enkelejd Alibeaj has informed through a letter the position of the PD parliamentary group for the president.
“In our estimation, the President of the Republic, who according to Article 86 of the Constitution represents the unity of the people, must be elected in a comprehensive, consensual process between the majority and the parliamentary minority, transparent loyal to the Constitution and the interests of the citizens. The presentation of this position is a proof of our good will, for a process which will give Albanians a dignified presidential image, at the height of their constitutional duty and with full legitimacy.
However, the document attached to this letter is not intended to solidify a process that favors the opposition, but aims at inclusiveness. For this reason, this proposal is open for discussion, improvement or additional proposals by all parliamentary groups with the sole aim of building a transparent process that produces a universally accepted product.“Is written in Alibeaj’s letter.
Along with Taulant Ballës, Alibeaj’s letter was also addressed to Fatmir Mediu and Mesila Doda in the capacity of chairmen of the opposition parliamentary groups that are negotiating in the process of electing the President of the Republic.
