As of today, throughout the country, the Operational Unit, in cooperation with the Traffic Police Sectors in the Local Police Directorates, has launched controls for the implementation of the tasks defined in the operational plan, which consist of monitoring the implementation of traffic rules. road by road users, especially by drivers.
Preventive checks are continuing on the move using unannounced vehicles, cameras mounted on vehicles, radars and other technical vehicles with civilian police officers, who monitor with street cameras, key segments identified as black spots due to road events with consequences that have occurred before.
Preventive patrolling and monitoring consists mainly of erroneous overtaking, speeding, the use of mobile phones by drivers while driving, the failure of seat drivers to wear seat belts and helmets by motorists, such as and for driving under the influence of alcohol or without a driving license.
From this morning until now, the Operational Unit of the Traffic Police has imposed 138 measures for erroneous overtaking found during the movement with uniformed vehicles and by civilian members of the Traffic Police.
The Operational Unit has ascertained with radar, 34 drivers circulating on Rruga e Kombit and on the axis Thumanë-Milot-Lezhë, with speeds above the allowed norms, which have been sent for further examination to the State Administrative Body, in the territory of Local Directorates of the Police where the violations have been ascertained.
Also, 78 measures have been imposed for not using the seat belt, 89 measures for the use of mobile phones while driving and 23 measures for not wearing the protective helmet.
The operational plan will continue throughout March, across the country, in order to prevent road accidents and increase safety on high-risk roads for events.
Assessing as quite effective the role of citizens in increasing road safety, we invite them to address all concerns and violations identified in a timely manner at the Digital Commissariat and the number of emergencies 112.
The Traffic Police appeals to all road users in general, especially drivers, motorists and cyclists to respect the rules of the road and show maximum care and patience in areas with heavy traffic, as otherwise they will be subject to legal sanctions provided in the Road Code of the Republic of Albania.
