Russia announces it will provide humanitarian corridors today for Ukrainians fleeing Kiev, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv and Mariupol.
It is also reported that from 7 o’clock in the morning the forces will “observe a regime of silence”.
It comes after the biggest refugee crisis in Europe since World War II has exceeded two million.
Authorities in Kiev, meanwhile, have previously accused Moscow of bombing a refugee corridor intended for residents trying to escape from Mariupol. Earlier, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said many Mariupol residents faced an “apocalyptic” situation with no water, energy or heating.
Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister Olga Stefanishyna said 5,000 civilians were evacuated yesterday from the Sumy region, where 21 people were killed in airstrikes.
