Russia has announced today that it has recruited about 16,000 soldiers from the Middle East to come to the aid of the Russian army in the fight against Ukraine.
Earlier it was reported that Syrian soldiers were offered up to £ 5,000 a month to fight on the front line, for Russia in Ukraine. A soldier has told the BBC that recruitment in Russia is the same as in Libya. He further added that even after applying, soldiers have the right to change their decision.
The Russian offer becomes more tempting for Syrian soldiers at a time when the country is experiencing an economic crisis, where commodity prices are rising steadily.
Russia has supported the Syrian regime during the country’s civil war, and Russian state media claim that Syrian soldiers want to return the favor.
