The Ministry of Defense in Ukraine has stated today that the Russian army has held 300 people hostage in a basement of a school for four weeks in Chernihiv.
The statement said Russian troops had taken hostages villagers in Yahidne, 140 km (80 miles) north of Chernihiv, and that 18 people were suspected of having died during the Russian occupation.
The ministry’s Twitter post included a photo of a wall that was said to have been used by hostages to keep track of the days they were there and to write the names of those suspected of having died.
At the time, villagers estimated that about 130 people were trapped in the room measuring approximately 65 square meters.
300 people were taken as hostages for 4 weeks in the basement of a school in Yahidne near Chernihiv by 🇷🇺 invaders.
People kept track of the days on a wall and wrote down the names of the 18 killed and of those who died.
