Journalist Marina Ovsyannikova, who stopped broadcasting news to protest the war in Ukraine, said her action came after she did not like the propaganda of Vladimir Putin’s government.
In an interview Sunday, he revealed that he had turned down an asylum offer in France, despite fears of further retaliation.
“You know, first of all, I want to tell everyone: the Russian people are really against the war. “It’s Putin’s war, not the Russian people’s war.” she told presenter George Stephanopoulos on “This Week” on ABC.
On March 14, Ovsyannikova cut short a live broadcast on Channel One after appearing on a poster that read: “Stop the war, do not trust the propaganda, they are lying to you.”
She was subsequently arrested, interrogated and fined and released from prison.
