The high tourist season is giving the first signals to the coast and the space around the coastline.
This year the expectations are for a tourism that does not remain only in the massive profile but that also explores the depths of the territory, local histories, experiences, monuments, village life, mountains, lakes, rivers, outdoor activities through small groups of adventure tourists , culture, ecotourism.
This new approach has prompted the two southern border municipalities of Saranda and Finiq to coordinate to integrate the tourist offer in order to extend the stay of visitors in a territory that already exceeds Saranda.
The two municipalities have signed a memorandum of cooperation where they basically agreed to promote a favorable climate for tourism businesses with a focus on investment in information, innovation, and bid presentations at regional and international fairs.
This is the first time that we talk about a destination management organization of both municipalities in order to create a brand and raise standards. Saranda receives in ordinary years almost 750 thousand foreign visitors for whom the offer is still limited to one-day visits while the depth of the territory is still in the first steps of investment in the tourism sector, also due to the very high level of emigration but also lack of expertise in tourism.
