Sardinia becomes the first region of Italy to enter the so-called “white zone”, created by Health Minister Roberto Speranza within the provision that determined the colors for all other areas of the country depending on the epidemiological situation.
Positive data will enable the reduction to a minimum of restrictive measures for the inhabitants of the island: practically only the wearing of the mask, social distancing and the obligation of hygiene will remain in force.
Starting March 1, everyone in the region will be free, say authorities in the neighboring country. Sardinia thus goes against the trend compared to the rest of Italy, where the rise in infections has forced the tightening of measures against the pandemic and the placement of many areas in the orange or red belt.
The data reviewed by the control room of the ministry, turn out to have been crucial. For the third week in a row, the incidence of cases in Sardinia remained below 50 per 100,000 inhabitants, even in the last monitoring period this figure dropped to 29, while R, the number of virus reproduction, is also the lowest in all Italy.
