In 2013, Michael Schumacher was involved in a serious skiing accident that almost cost the former Formula 1 pilot his life.
From 1991-2006, F1 fans were lucky enough to see Schumacher race every season, dominating in Ferrari’s iconic red.
During his illustrious career, Schumacher won seven championships, with his first title coming in 1994 and his last in 2004.
Unfortunately, in 2013, a year after his last race at the Brazilian Grand Prix, Schumacher suffered a skiing accident. Schumacher was on holiday with his family in the French Alps when he fell and hit his head on a rock.
After the incident, he was airlifted to a hospital in Grenoble, where after two operations, he was placed in a coma by doctors for six months.
After emerging from a coma in 2014, Schumacher was then transferred to a hospital in Lausanne.
Recently, in an interview, Schumacher’s former manager, Will Webber, has accused the German’s family of lying about the consequences of the skiing accident.
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, Webber said: It was a great pain for me. I tried hundreds of times to contact his wife, Corinnan, and she didn’t answer. I called Jean Todt to ask if I should go to the hospital and he told me to wait because it’s too early.
I called the next day and no one answered. I did not expect such behavior and I am still angry about it. They kept me out, they told me it’s too early, well now it’s too late. Nine years have passed. “Maybe they should just tell it like it is,” Weber said
“At first I could understand the situation as I always did everything I could for Michael to protect his private life. But since then we have only heard lies from them. Years after the accident, I told myself to just take care of the family since I couldn’t change things. He was like a son to me. Even today it hurts me to talk about it”, she added.
