Snapchat will allow users to change usernames with an update coming globally later this month, the company announced.
According to foreign media, the Telegraph reports, this means that you will be able to leave behind the name you originally used without having to create a completely new account.
Snapchat says the new feature will be available for both iOS and Android and will launch on February 23rd.
Keep in mind that you can only change a username once a year, and Snap adds that you will not be able to select a glove that has been used in the past, even by yourself. So if you were hoping to get a username that is already registered and inactive, this change will not help there. Once you change it, it looks like your old username is gone forever.
