The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj and the young people of the Municipal Council of Tirana planted trees today near the Lake Park. Veliaj mentioned the fact that the liberation of the occupied spaces in the lake has been a battle in itself, as is today the battle with the ALF for the dreams of the children of Tirana.
“Today we took back half of the lake, which was abused and occupied. It is also a metaphor for the battles we are waging today. The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, but the second best time to plant a tree is today. The best time to liberate sport from the mafia was 20 years ago, when the mafia was elected in charge of sport. But, the second best time to deal with this job is today. So, it is never too late to do the right thing and the right thing. The escape of the concrete mixers was also a battle. It’s not that the city has left us a week without battle, but this is the next battle. Therefore, I strongly believe that we should give an example that in this city there is no mafia, there is no gang from Shijak, and the wonders we are hearing from that gang “, stressed Veliaj.
Further, the mayor underlined that he will continue this battle until the end, because the sport should be “fair play” and not a gang untouchable by anyone.
“You can be independent, but you can not be inviolable! You have to show where the money from FIFA and UEFA went. As long as the Municipality of Tirana makes such terrains, like these adjacent fields, like the fields up on the hill, which it takes from the occupiers and returns to the city, I will continue to do this battle for thousands of children. Yesterday, thousands of parents, mothers and fathers wrote to me, who feel humiliated and insulted that their savings – 20 or 30 thousand ALL every month – to take their son to football, are cleaned like money by Shijak’s chicken coop. I will not give up on this battle and I will not tut on behalf of these families, who believe that life should have fair play. “Sport must have fair play, students must have fair play, a small child deserves fair play”, said Veliaj.
In the end, the mayor made a parallel, when he said that “This tree will probably not cast any shadows today, but it will cast shadows for all our children tomorrow. “At least, when the history of the city is written, we should have the opportunity that the battles we fought today, just like these trees we planted, serve to pave the way for someone else, so that tomorrow will be easier.”
