A strong earthquake hit Bosnia-Herzegovina this Friday evening, while tremors were felt throughout Albania.
Preliminary data from IGJEUM show that the earthquake with an epicenter 10 km south-west of the city of Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina, had a magnitude of 5.7 on the Richter scale and a depth of 10 km.
The tremors were felt at 23:07 for almost 15 seconds. Residents say that at first the tremors were light and intensified in the following seconds.
Some areas in the city of Mostar have been left without electricity, while panicked residents have left their homes.
Seismic movements were felt throughout the Balkans, in a radius of almost 400 km. At a distance from the epicenter only 202 kilometers away from Tirana by air, the tremors were felt all over the country. The Ministry of Defense announces so far, no injuries or damage have been reported.
According to Bosnian media, this is the third strong earthquake in the region in less than three years. The first was the devastating earthquake in Zagreb, the second the tragic earthquake of November 26, 2019 in Durres and today in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The epicenter is located in the same tectonic zone Durrës-Ljubanë-Zagreb.
