Twenty-four people have reportedly died in the last 4 weeks due to severe storms in KwaZulu-Natal province, in the east of the Republic of South Africa.
A statement from the KwaZulu-Natal provincial government said that since December 15, the province has been hit by severe storms.
It is also confirmed that 18 people were drowned due to bad weather conditions and 6 people lost their lives as a result of the lightning strike.
The statement said that more than 700 buildings were damaged, while material damage in the country amounted to about 207 million dollars.
The South African Weather Service has also warned of heavy rains expected across the province.
