Recent research conducted in Germany shows that infotainment systems and screens that are placed in the car, distract the driver much more than we thought.
With the modern era and digitalization, the vehicles of recent years have already turned into mobile computers, loaded with dozens of systems and applications for the safety and entertainment of passengers.
But it seems that security and entertainment cannot coexist in the same space. This is confirmed by a survey conducted in Germany by ADAC. The survey proved that the more functions the screen has in the car, the more dangerous the vehicle will be.
In the latest vehicles, there is now not only entertainment such as music or maps on the screen, but also driving functions, such as adjusting the windshield wipers, driver assistance systems, adjusting the mirrors and steering wheel, etc.
“This requires more time and driver distraction and therefore represents a significant safety risk,” says ADAC.
