The mysterious hepatitis that occurs in children 1 to 16 years old has alarmed infectious disease doctors and pediatricians around the world.
At the European Congress of Infectious Diseases in Lisbon, an emergency session was held regarding this disease, where the infectious disease doctor, Prof. Arjan Harxhi, who explains that children are at risk of liver transplantation.
Lack of appetite, drowsiness and vomiting are the first symptoms that should concern the parent, to contact the pediatrician immediately.
There is still no data on how acute hepatitis spreads, while there is only a hypothesis about the cause, explains prof. Harxhi.
There are a total of 169 children affected in England, America, Israel and Denmark, Ireland and most recently 2 cases in neighboring Italy.
