Teacher Roberta Lopes dos Passos lost her life on Christmas Day after an aesthetic surgeon performed three procedures on her at the same time. Police are treating the case as negligent homicide.
Brazilian police said the mother of two suffered a heart attack while performing three cosmetic procedures at the same time.
Roberta Lopes dos Passos died a few days later at Hospital do Coracao in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina.
She was 35 years old and leaves behind her fiancé and two children aged three and six.
The teacher had suffered a fatal heart attack after the cosmetic surgeon tried to perform simultaneous abdominal traction, mammoplasty and abdominal liposuction on her body, at the hospital of Sao Jose.
Her family reported the matter to police on the day of her death as surgeon Sergio Keinet was detained for bodily injury from negligence. He claims the surgery had gone smoothly.
The victim’s partner Leandro Luiz Silveira, said the procedure had lasted about 6 hours, after which Lopes dos Passos complained of pain. She was later diagnosed with heart attack as the team that operated on her said the surgery had gone normally.
The development comes after several serious accidents during plastic surgery procedures.
A survey in Britain found that the most sought after features in plastic surgery were Angelina Jolie’s eyes, J-Lopez’s buttocks, and Michelle Keegan’s lips.
