Deputy of the Democratic Party Aldo Bumçi, in the panel of guests this evening on “Top Story”, stated that the creation of the Democratic Party brought James Baker to Albania and the opposite did not happen.
He said that the legacy of violence in our country was terrible and cannot be compared to any other country in Europe, as it lasted longer and the country was too small for such pressure.
Bumci: About James Baker’s visit, we have to think something, what happened during the great isolation. The most horrific legacy of violence has occurred. The legacy of violence in Albania cannot be compared to very few countries in Europe. If we include the duration, because if we compare it with other dictatorships, things came to be softened, the isolation was not so deep. All these dimensions in a small country, with a duration of half a century, makes it a terribly traumatized nation. Persecution continued, if someone was imprisoned, the slaughtered were exiled, so there was a society under this terrible violence. The creation of the DP in ’90 was the great hope and the creation of the Albanian opposition that James Baker brings to Albania. The opposite does not happen, the PD is created and then James Baker comes.
