Chaos and terror erupted yesterday in Daytona Beach in Florida when a driver suddenly lost consciousness and control of the vehicle, driving it into a crowded street until it was stopped by the ocean water.
Four people were injured, including a child, after what authorities called “a medical episode,” which in most cases means loss of consciousness or a heart attack.
During its surge the car injured people and destroyed a beach changing cabin as it rolled towards the ocean yesterday afternoon amid shocked beachgoers.
Local officials confirmed the serious incident that occurred in the Speedway Boulevard area, adding that the investigation into the incident continues.
Stunned bystanders then surrounded the white car that had suddenly flooded the sand as they rushed to help the injured.
Officials said the driver of the car had suffered a “medical episode” and was unconscious.
There was also a woman in the car and two girls in the back seat, according to witnesses. The latter started pushing the car away from the water again.
The injured in the incident were not in a serious condition, but the incident could have caused a tragedy.
