Following the Greek proposal for the renewal of a five-year agreement of the Pact of Friendship, Cooperation, Good Neighborliness and Security between Greece and Albania, the Albanian side responded positively and is in favor of this renewal.
It is recalled in this case that this Pact was signed between the two countries in 1996 and had an initial duration, from the day of implementation, 20 years, which ended in 2018. It was then renewed for a period of five years, until 2023. .
On the eve of its expiration, both parties have agreed to renew it for another five years.
This development – emphasize the same Greek diplomatic sources – is part of the continuous improvement of the climate in relations between the two countries, which was hinted during the visit of Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias in Tirana in October 2020, as well as his meeting last with the Albanian Prime Minister Rama in Tirana a few days ago.
