Today, the Albanian Parliament approved the resolution against Dick Marty’s report on Kosovo.
The resolution proposed by the majority considers unfounded the claims raised in 2011 by a report of the Council of Europe assembly, according to which during the war in Kosovo human organs were trafficked by the leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
The authorities stated that they will ask the Council of Europe to review the 2011 resolution, given that all investigations so far have not revealed any such evidence or fact.
The session of the parliament was accompanied by strong debates and mutual accusations between the majority and the opposition regarding the positions of the parties towards the developments in Kosovo.
The report of the envoy of the Council of Europe Dikc Marty was the genesis that then led to the establishment of a Special Court for war crimes in Kosovo, with headquarters in The Hague.
Among the numerous accusations, the report raised claims for the involvement of the leaders of the former Kosovo Liberation Army in human organ trafficking, extending as far as Albania.
After 11 years, the Albanian parliament, in a special resolution, assesses that the claims raised remain unargued, unproven and unbased in evidence and facts and, therefore, should be considered as such by all national and international institutions and that the indictment against former president Hashim Thaçi and other leaders of the former Liberation Army was proof that nothing of the sort happened.
The resolution requires the Council of Europe to review the act approved by it in 2011, and Prime Minister Edi Rama said that Albania will insist on this in Strasbourg.
Both parties accused each other of using Kosovo for internal political games. The numerous accusations also brought moments of tension in the hall, between him and former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
