Synchronous Michael Kiser, Ship Commander… ..Our goal is to show devotion to NATO and collective defense. This mission has not changed at all, despite the crisis in Ukraine. We continue to work with allies in the region to demonstrate our commitment to the North Atlantic Alliance. All the exercises we participate in were planned long before the Russian occupation and aggression in Ukraine.
The ship dedicated to destruction and air defense has been sailing for 11 years, is almost 160 meters long and costs 2 billion dollars.
Executive Officer Rob Keller escorts us across the ship with a 25-year-old crew on board.
“In the center is a missile system designed to launch commanded missiles. 3D spy radars have been installed at the top. “Here you look at the vertical launch system, capable of firing several missiles at once,” said Executive Officer Rob Keller.
Destroyer bears the name of US Marine Jason Dunham who died in Iraq at the age of 23 as he threw his body over an enemy grenade to rescue his comrades. Every American warship has its motto, that of Jason Dunham is “Always loyal, always strong.”
