‘The Animals and Friends’ are for the third time in Tirana. The drummer of the legendary British rock band John Steel, tells us in an interview the history of the band.

What should fans expect from The Animals and Friends?
JS; You know we have some big hits “we gotta get out of this place”, “House of the rising sun”, “Don’t let me be misunderstood,” Its my life “. All of them.
Where does the name “The Animals” come from?
JS; The name “The Animlas” came from a musician in the UK. We were at the point before we found the name. The band had an intricate name. The musician gave us a suggestion. You need a name like “the Beatle”, hence the name “The Animlas”.
What was the difference between the English and American scenes?
JS; Yes there were changes. In England we had more blues and rock. While in America they attract more teenage girls. So it was a very big change.
How was the London scene at the time?
JS; It was very impressive. Things had been difficult after World War II. Suddenly everything was released. We had money to spend, there were more jobs.
What achievements are you most proud of?
JS; I think it’s the defining song of The Animals, House of the rising sun. We became number one in the worldwide rankings. It was a life-changing experience.
How do you feel now that you are with “the animals and friends”?
JS; We are good friends. We have a good time together during the trips. It keeps us happy and together. we just enjoy playing together.

The Animals formed as a blues and rock band in the early 1960s. After successive successes and rapid fame they suffered from poor management, causing the band to disband in 1966.
The original lineup of Burdon, Alan Price, Chas Chandler, Hilton Valentine and John Steel reunited for a solo concert at Newcastle in 1968. They later began brief returns in 1975 and 1983. Animals were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall. of Fame in 1994.
