Deputies Kasem Mahmutaj
The decision announced by Judge Etleva Deda counts 22 confiscated assets against the three Mahmutaj brothers, among which are the properties of the deputy Kasem Mahmutaj.
Anila Hoxha told Top Channel that MP Kasem Mahmutaj, by court order, transferred two apartments, two plots of land and a vehicle in favor of the state. Although declared as income from emigration, the court assessed that the assets of Behar, Kasem and Gazmend Mahmutaj are not justified and that there are suspicions stemming from the crime as long as the latter is convicted.
Gazmend Mahmutaj, changed his name to Eduart Toska, was found guilty by the Verona Court in November 1993. This decision on charges of exploitation of prostitution was converted in Albania with eight years in prison in the same year.
While in 2020 the assets of the convict and his family were placed under the control of OFL and then the search of SPAK that went to court with a request for freezing. The MP and his two brothers were left without confiscation of only one apartment that was tolerated by the court for social and housing reasons.
After proactive investigations, SPAK has taken confiscation decisions for assets worth 71 million euros, the most important Toyota Yaris 3.4 million euros or lands in the place called Rana e Hedhur, others are under property proceedings.
