One of the most notorious killers who has melted the bodies of rivals of the drug cartel in acid, will soon be released from prison in Mexico after serving a 10-year sentence.
Santiago Meza Lopez – otherwise known as El Pozolero (the cook) – has admitted that he melted the bodies of the victims in acid on behalf of the infamous Sinaloa cartel, to make them disappear.
The “culprit” of the disappearance of the corpses was initially caught in 2009, and was sentenced to ten years in prison in 2012, so he is expected to be released this year.
Hundreds of people disappear each year from violence linked to drug cartels in Mexico.
Lopez believed to have used acid barrels to melt hundreds of human bodies under cartel orders Sinaloa.
He was known to be active in 10 locations in Tijuana, mostly near the US border.
The gangster is believed to have gone so far as to build a sewer system to remove acid residues.
In 2012, about 16,500 liters of liquid organic waste were discovered in his ‘Chicken Coop’ lair.
Experts estimated that in them could be the remains of 600 people, who were then thrown into mass graves around the site.
Court documents say Lopez was chosen for the macabre task while working on the farm in 1996.
Lopez claims he was forced to work for the cartel.
The families of the suspected victims are asking the authorities to come to identify the human remains at the location of the execution and the disappearance of the traces.
