Citizens who have been vaccinated with Coronavac, which occupy the largest part in Albania should not wait 6 months, but can apply the third dose up to 5 months from the second dose.
Health experts say that after 5 months vaccine protection drops from 74% to 39% moreover the Coronavac vaccine has a lower protection than other vaccines.
It protects but needs to be boosted more quickly with the third dose. As for those who have not been vaccinated yet, experts call for vaccination as soon as possible as the Omicron mutation which has not yet been officially confirmed to have entered our country has a much higher infectivity than the Delta mutation.
Although there is no evidence of fatality from Omicron it becomes troubling if two mutations circulate in parallel in the population as it may give rise to another mutation with more disturbing behavior.
In recent days in our country there has been a loss of life at a young age. Doctors from Covid hospitals say most patients are unvaccinated and they manifest more severe symptoms. According to studies, the risk of loss of life in an unvaccinated person is 16 times higher than in a vaccinated person. The restriction of the technical committee of experts, that on January 4 will not be hired unvaccinated persons has somewhat affected the increase of vaccination among young people, but still remain low figures.
