20 tritol molds and 2 detonator capsules were seized from the I Vora police station in the Ura e Gjola area on the border with Fushë Krujë, which were being transported by a 51-year-old man from Laçi.
Based on the information received on the operative route, the police searched the vehicle in which 51-year-old Ndue Malqi was traveling and found explosives in his backpack and arrested the perpetrator red-handed.
The 51-year-old Ndue Malqi said in front of the blue uniforms that he found the 20 explosive molds in an army warehouse in 1997. During Thursday, he was traveling towards Kruja to sell them to the quarry. But this version is unbelievable for the police, who suspect that the 51-year-old was contacted.
The arrested person changed his testimony when he was re-interrogated by the police, claiming that he was traveling from Laçi in order to deliver the explosives to the police. He will face justice for the criminal offense “Possessing and manufacturing explosive weapons and ammunition” and risks up to 7 years in prison.
This is the 4th case in a few weeks that the Tirana police have identified quantities of ammunition and weapons.
On Thursday, Tirana police arrested 2 young men, 22 and 25 years old, after 7 pistols and 4 silencers were found in two rented apartments.
On June 21, in the Dry Lake area, in an apartment and a warehouse rented by 27-year-old Eno Papa (Beqiri), the police seized 2 snipers, 4 Kalashnikovs, 2 automatic weapons, 4 pistols with silencers, three tritol molds, a quantity of suspected explosive.
