The court of Tirana has left in force the security measure “suspension from duty” for Armando Duka, Ardian Haçi and Ilir Shulku.
Sources for Top Channel journalist, Anila Hoxha, said that none of them has appeared in court, but have stated that they will embrace a lawyer.
For its part, the Prosecution alleged that there were suspicions that Duka, Haçi, Shulku and Kokëdhima had committed acts of “abuse of office” and “falsification of documents”.
Before the court, their representative lawyer, Julian Mërtiri said that the Prosecution has ignored the fact that these persons are not defendants, but only persons under investigation. According to him, none of them exercises public functions.
“My representatives do not hold public office. Haçi is the general secretary of the Association, which is not a state institution. Also, the ALF is not a state institution. The same is the argument for Shulk. The law on sports prohibits the influence of politics on sports. Public institutions must sell their shares, in compliance with the law on sports. The plaintiff, Veliaj, in the role of shareholder, is a politician, thus creating legal contradictions. The Tirana Regional Football Association does not exercise any public function. We clarify to the court that the Tirana Regional Association functions as an NGO. Duke has no authority over the Association. The whole organizational process of the Association is registered by the organizers themselves “, said the lawyer before the trial panel.
