The National Council of the Democratic Party has unanimously approved the resolution, which was proposed the day before by the chairman of the Democratic Party and condemns the move and actions taken by former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
The resolution includes the dismissal of the head of the National Council Edi Paloka and all persons who participated in yesterday’s Assembly organized in “Air Albania”.
The chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha has stated, among other things, that it was his first commitment as the leader of this political force that there will never be exceptions proposed by him and that he does not hold people by force.
It is learned that Basha stated at the meeting of the National Council that the measures taken last night by the presidency and the measures proposed today, are not measures of exclusion, but dismissal from office. According to him, this is due to the flagrant violation of the statute, bringing consequences for the DP.
“It was my first commitment as chairman of the Democratic Party that there will never be an exception proposed by me. Neither you nor I hold people by force. Therefore, the measures taken last night by the presidency and the measures proposed today, are not measures of exclusion but dismissal from office due to flagrant violation of the statute with consequences for the DP. The attack and pressure on Democrats is unprecedented. There is pressure and intimidation from former senior officials or officials threatening members of the National Council to be part of the meeting. It is unacceptable to close our eyes. I reject this and reject any of us“, Basha said in front of the Democrats.
Resolution adopted by the National Council of the Democratic Party:
The National Council of the Democratic Party convened today on December 12, 2021 in fulfillment of its political and statutory responsibilities, as the highest body of the Democratic Party between the two Assemblies,
-Discussed the disturbing situation created by the movement of Mr. Sali Berisha after his suspension by the Parliamentary Group and its summary rally on December 11;
-He found that the convening of this rally with the claim that it was convening an Assembly of the Democratic Party and the so-called “decisions” violate all norms of the PD Statute that regulate its functioning and decision-making as a political institution;
Notes that the rally forged and used the symbols and logos of the Democratic Party in flagrant violation of statutory and legal norms;
– He estimates that the “Berisha” movement and yesterday’s rally as its finalization are an attempt to delegitimize the institutions of the Democratic Party until its dissolution as the most pro-Western force in the country, aiming to turn it into a bunker for the protection of personal interests of Sali Berisha in front of the USA.
-Concludes that any so-called position or decision of this rally is null and void and has no political and legal value for the Democratic Party.
Affirms that the National Assembly of December 18 is the only legitimate and comprehensive Assembly of Democrats, where it will be discussed, debated and decided democratically for the deepening of internal democracy and the strengthening of the DP in the face of the challenges of the time.
– Considers that by instrumentalizing some internal problems of the Democratic Party, the sincere concerns and sensitivities of many Democrats after the election massacre of April 25, as well as mobilizing and gathering around itself a group of organizers with agendas and personal interests of the past and present , “Berisha” movement to blackmail the United States of America, as he openly stated in his speech, Sali Berisha yesterday laid the foundations of an anti-American-inspired political organization that only has and will not have any connection with the DP never. This is the first anti-American movement in the history of three decades of democratic system and the second in the history of Albania after that of Enver Hoxha.
-The Democratic Party strongly distances itself and condemns such movements that contradict its identity determinations, the interests of Democrats and all Albanians, the vital strategic relations of Albania and the Albanian Nation with the United States.
-The National Council appeals to the Democrats who were at the December 11 rally for their legitimate concerns, which have nothing to do with Sali Berisha’s agenda and personal interests, to reflect and stay united with most Democrats on the history and sacred values of the Party. Democratic.
-The National Council considers the fight against corruption and impunity in the higher spheres as a key element for establishing the rule of law, holding free and fair elections, Albania’s EU integration, protection of human dignity, development and well-being of Albanian families. In this war, the US establishment of anti-corruption as a priority of its policy and the use of sanctions against corrupt officials and former officials in Albania has been and is a decisive factor in overthrowing the current and long-standing rule of corruption and lawlessness in the country.
-The National Council expresses its full appreciation and support for raising to a new and closer level the cooperation relations of the Democratic Party and the party chairman with the USA.
-The National Council supports all the activity and decision-making of the Speaker, the Presidency and the Parliamentary Group for the protection of the interest of the Democratic Party and its values as the opposition and the only alternative to remove Edi Rama’s regime and return the Democrats as a governing force.
