The former police officer’s father of a teenage model on the TikTok network has shot dead one of his daughter’s obsessed followers, who came to their home with a gun.
The young man reportedly shot at the front door of the house with a pistol and tried to kill Ava Majury, a 15-year-old known online from Florida, USA.
The incident happened after there are long periods of harassment where the girl often received unwanted attention from 18-year-old Eric Rohan Justin a few weeks after she started broadcasting on the video platform in 2020.
Ava quickly started to succeed on TikTok by gaining hundreds of thousands of followers with her posts singing and dancing as well as joking with her family.
But the girl said about New York Times that the dark side of her new fame began to appear when Rohan Justin revealed her address and phone number by contacting her acquaintances.
One day in June 2021 the teenager came in front of the family home and started shooting at their front door with a gun, causing Ava and her two brothers to hide in their parents’s bedroom.
Recalling the moments of terror, she told the daily: “All I remember is that I heard the noise and when I looked there was a hole in the main door.”
After the shooting the assailant’s weapon was blocked and he disappeared for a few moments. When he returned, the girl’s former police officer was standing at the door.
Marjury had asked the attacker to drop his weapon and when he refused he shot him to death.
So far no charges have been filed against the father as in Florida there is a law of “protection of your land” that allows the homeowner to use deadly force against foreigners who pose a threat to life.
Police searched the attacker’s cell phones posthumously and found that there were hundreds of photos and videos of Ava.
But despite the terrifying episode, the teen’s parents have allowed her to stay on TikTok for now, as her father says “videos are an important part of it”.
