The first aid plane has arrived in Tonga, including water and other much-needed supplies for the Pacific island.
New Zealand has said its military plane has landed at Tonga’s main airport after workers removed the ash from the runway.
Airplanes and other ships with aid from New Zealand and Australia have already been launched.
The eruption of the volcano on Saturday, followed by a tsunami, has covered the island with ash, endangering the health of residents.
Ash and seawater have contaminated water supplies.
At least three people have died and communications have been blocked for several days, leaving the country without contact with the world.
Both the Australian and New Zealand authorities have confirmed that supplies will be sent without contact, in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus on the island, which has reported only one case of coronavirus throughout the pandemic.
