After three days of intense discussions on Ukraine, the G7 group issued a joint statement saying they would never accept the borders that Russia is trying to change with its war.
“We will never recognize the borders that Russia has tried to change with its military aggression and reaffirm our commitment to supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, including Crimea and all other regions. Said Annalena Bearbock.
The G7 also pledged to further extend sanctions, including on those sectors to which Russia is dependent, and to continue supplying arms to Ukraine to help repel Russian occupation.
Just the day before, the foreign policy chief announced that they had granted Ukraine additional arms assistance worth 500 million euros.
Western countries have supplied Ukraine with artillery, anti-aircraft missiles, anti-tank weapons and other powerful materials, but Kiev is seeking more support, saying only that way it can be defended.
As the war continues, the G7 foreign ministers also stressed the growing impact of the war on poorer countries, particularly in the area of food security.
