The House of Representatives of the American Congress approved the resolution on the case of the murder of the Bytyqi brothers in 1999 in Serbia.

The resolution also states that the government of Serbia, its relevant ministries and services, including the Serbian War Crimes Prosecution, should prioritize the investigation and prosecution as soon as possible of current or former officials. believed to be responsible for their murder.
The USA emphasizes that the progress in clarifying this case or not clarifying it should be an important factor that determines the further development of relations between the USA and Serbia. The resolution was proposed by the Republican congressman from the state of New York, Lee Zeldin, and 423 congressmen voted in favor of the resolution, one was against, while six of them did not vote.
The brothers Agron, Mehmet and Yll Bytyqi, originally from Kosovo, were arrested in 1999 in Serbia, due to, as Serbian officials at the time said, illegal border crossing. They were released from prison after being convicted and then were killed. Their bodies were found in a mass grave, near Petrovo Sello in the east of Serbia, in 2001.
