The International Criminal Court has sent a team of 42 investigators and forensic experts to Ukraine to investigate war crimes.
In a statement, Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan said investigators would gather evidence of military attacks that could constitute crimes, while forensic experts would work with Ukrainian authorities to design existing actions and “strengthen the detention chain” in relation to strong evidence.
“Now more than ever we have to show the law“, He says.
“It is essential that we show survivors and victims’ families that international law is important, in order to bring them some comfort through the justice process.. ”
Khan says his team will work with French experts and those sent from other countries, while thanking the Dutch government for facilitating the sending of Dutch national experts to support the mission.
