“Recently we have a significant shortage of qualified drivers because the recognition of licenses has been done in Germany and most of the drivers are trying through contacts that they have abroad to leave, for better pay, the stress they have here is higher. 5-6 years ago the average age of public transport drivers was 35-45 years old, now most of the young drivers have left for Europe, now the average age of drivers is 50 years old “, said Dashnor Memaj
From January to May, the police identified 8 cases of public transport drivers who tested positive for alcohol.
“From time to time we do the alcohol test itself, in addition to the checks made by the police. Surprisingly we do the alcohol test to understand the condition that the drivers are. “There have been very small cases, they have been suspended from work.” – said Dashnor Memaj.
On average, 200-250 buses run in the capital during a day, while the influx of citizens using public transport has already increased due to the high temperatures.
