The mayor of London is embarrassed by the UK’s response to helping Ukrainian refugees.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan said the British government should “make it much easier” for refugees to come to the UK.
CNN said in an interview Khan added that he was “embarrassed” by the UK response to comparing him to other European countries on the refugee issue.
“There is a disconnect between the actions of the British and the actions of the Londoners and the actions of our government and those in Parliament, as you have seen people all over the country, including London, opening their homes to Ukrainian refugees. You have seen the massive generosity regarding donationsSaid Khan.
Despite marching alongside other protesters he considered the arrival of the Ukrainians difficult.
Khan took part in the London “Stands With Ukraine” march to protest against Russian attacks on Ukraine.
According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, more than 3.7 million refugees have fled Ukraine since the beginning of the occupation.
