Saudi Arabia announced that as part of measures against coronavirus (COVID-19), the measure of social distancing will be restored from tomorrow in the Grand Mosque (Masjid al-Haram) in Mecca and the Mosque of the Prophet (Masjid al-Nebevi) in Medina.
The official Saudi news agency, SPA, citing an official from the Directorate of Affairs of Masjid al-Haram and Masjid al-Nebawiyah, said restrictions had been imposed on the holy sites due to the increase in COVID-19 cases.
According to the decision, from tomorrow the social distance will be applied in Masjid al-Haram and Masjid al-Nebevi.
Saudi Arabia announced on October 15 that it would allow the opening of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet Mosque for worship at full capacity, as part of easing restrictions against COVID-19.
More than 8,800 people have died from the coronavirus in Saudi Arabia, and the number of infections has reached 554,665.
