We are here today to communicate to you the results of the coded police operation “TRACE”, developed by the Lezhë Local Police Directorate, in close cooperation with the Prosecutor’s Office at the Lezhë Judicial District Court, to clarify the event that happened in 2016. in Mirdita, where one citizen was killed and another was injured.
Investigation Structures in the Lezhë Local Police Directorate, following the work on clarifying and documenting with legal evidence the criminal events that occurred in the Lezhë district, in close cooperation with the Lezhë District Prosecutor’s Office, as a result of in-depth investigative and professional actions, made it possible to document with legal evidence the event that happened on September 9, 2016, in Rrëshen, where the citizen Saimir Jaku was killed with a firearm and the citizen Gjergj Prenga was injured.
As a result of all the investigative actions carried out and the intensive cooperation with the Scientific Police Institute, for the laboratory examinations of the evidence seized at the scene, as well as the receipt of any possible evidence of interest to the investigation, the evaluation of any information, for the identification of the author /s and the clarification of the event, the investigative structures of DVP Lezhë conducted the coded police operation “GJURMA”, in the framework of which the citizen DK, 40 years old, born in Kurbin and resident in Krujë, was arrested and detained.
In the framework of the investigations carried out by the investigative structures of the DVP Lezhë, in cooperation with the Prosecutor’s Office, based on the collected evidence, the Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of the Judicial District Lezhë issued a restraining order for this citizen, for the criminal offenses “Murder in other qualifying circumstances”. carried out in cooperation with the “Unauthorized production and possession of military weapons and ammunition”.
This citizen, in cooperation with other citizens, is suspected of having committed the crime of murdering citizen Saimir Jaku, against payment. The perpetrators of the murder are suspected to be a structured criminal group operating in the Lezhë district, already identified and under investigation by the Police. Due to the quality of the investigation and the preservation of investigative secrecy, we cannot release any other information about this matter.
During the control carried out in the apartment of the arrested citizen DK, within the police operation “FOOTSTEPS”, 21 mobile devices and 6 SIM card holders were found and seized as material evidence.
Investigations continue for the complete and legal documentation of this event.
On the other hand, the structures of the DVP Lezhë, in coordination with the investigative structures in the General Directorate of the State Police, in cooperation with the Prosecutor’s Office at the Kurbin Judicial District Court, are working intensively for the discovery and legal documentation of the serious event that occurred on July 22, 2022, in Milot.
The Police of Lezha expresses its determination in the uncompromising fight against crime, using all its capacities and cooperating closely with other law enforcement institutions, to identify and bring to the fore the legal responsibility of the perpetrators of the crimes committed, as well as the intervention for prevention of other possible criminal events.
