The newlywed from Tennessee in the USA has been accused of beating his wife to death during their “honeymoon” at the luxury resort in the Fiji Islands, but his lawyer claims it was an accident.
Bradley Robert Dawson, 38, is accused of murdering his pharmacist wife Christe Chen, 36, whose body was found at the scenic Yasawa Island resort two days after they entered their hotel room.
The new bride was found by staff in a pool of blood in the couple’s room from Memphis, USA.
According to a post-mortem report seen by the daily DailyMail.com the woman had suffered multiple violent traumas to the head.
The groom was only found the next day after they had kayaked to another island about 1 mile away in the early hours of the morning.
One of the locals told the media that the couple had a heated argument on the day of Chen’s death: “It was a very heated argument.”
Dawson’s attorney, Iqbal Khan, insisted that despite the gruesome reports of the death his client “cannot be charged with murder.”
“With the evidence they have presented so far, the charge of premeditated murder cannot be raised. the facts show that we have more to do with an accident”, said the lawyer.
Chen’s body was found in the room by cleaners who then notified the police.
They then launched a search for Dawson, who was found on Matacawalevu Island, about 1.2 miles from the popular tourist island ‘Turtle Island’.
A local told the media that the suspect had come there by kayak in the middle of the night after the conflict he had with the deceased Chen.
Dawson was covered in blood on his hands and feet, with scratches that could have been caused by walking on coral and rocks, so local Ratulele had offered him water and help.
Hotel prices on the luxury island range from $2,000 to $4,000 a night.
Investigations continue.
