The second friendly meeting between the Russians and the Ukrainians in search of a solution to the war began. This is the second meeting between the parties being held in Belarus. They were announced yesterday, but only on Thursday at noon the Ukrainian delegation arrived at the meeting place.
The first signs showed a de-escalation between the delegations, unlike the first time when the parties kept their distance and after 5 hours of talks agreed only on reunification.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov also warned of de-escalation, saying he was confident a solution would be found to the situation.
“Of course a solution will be found, I have no doubts, our conditions are already known and they are being addressed, I say that everything will go well“, said Lavrov.
Meanwhile, Kiev’s presidential adviser Mikhailo Podolyak posted a photo on Twitter saying the meeting ended without a positive result for Ukraine’s demands. The parties at the table have only agreed on the creation of a humanitarian corridor.
The Ukrainians also demanded an “immediate ceasefire.”
On the other hand, President Volodymyr Zelensky extended his hand for talks to Putin, as the only man who can end this situation.
