The drought that has emptied a reservoir in Spain has brought to light the frightening ruins of the village that was sunk by the construction of the dam.
After almost two months without rain, the reappearance of the Aceredo ruins is arousing a lot of emotions among the locals.
The roof tops that appeared on the surface had become a common sight in the Lindoso Reservoir in northwestern Spain.
But now locals can see the remains of a car, the stone fountain and an old road leading to what was once the town bar.
Older parts of the village of Aceredo had begun to appear since its flood 30 years ago by the construction of the hydropower dam.
But his skeleton had never fully appeared in the middle of the winter season.
Retired Maximino Perez Romero, 65, of A Coruna, said it was like watching a movie.
“I have a feeling of sadness. Previously the place was full of vineyards and orange trees, it was all green and beautiful. Look how sad it is now.
Jos Luis Penn, 72, says he stopped at the village bar with his friends at the end of each fishing day.
He adds that the arid areas of the Iberian Peninsula are experiencing long periods of drought that have begun to damage crops.
