A team of officials from the US Department of Defense traveled to Ukraine to discuss Kiev’s air defense needs, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby announced today.
“A small Pentagon team traveled to Ukraine for air defense talks,” Kirby told a news conference.
A U.S. official confirmed that a group of U.S. military officials had recently returned from Ukraine, but that the ministry was not yet ready to go into detail about the visit. Kirby, meanwhile, said the U.S. Air Force will continue to fly over the Black Sea in accordance with international regulations.
“We will continue to fly and be where international law allows,” Kirby said, adding that the Black Sea is part of international waters.
“We are continuing to work, I do not think there will be a change,” he said.
