A British tourist has been found dead in his tent on a beach on the Greek island of Crete.
Other beachgoers who were staying at Stalida Beach are believed to have become concerned when the man lying on the deckchair had not moved for several hours in the scorching sun.
They had approached to communicate with the 54-year-old but realized that he was unconscious and raised the alarm.
Paramedics arrived at the scene on Saturday afternoon and tried desperately to help the man with artificial respiration.
He was then taken to the island’s Heraklion hospital where he was pronounced dead, writes MailOnline.
The man’s identity has not been made public, but he is believed to have remained in the sun for several hours without moving, until other beachgoers decided to check.
Sudden deaths or accidents during personal activities have increased in the past two years, and authorities have yet to reveal possible causes.
British officials said the foreign office is helping the family of a man who died while on holiday in Crete.
