A small plane with 22 people on board, which was flying in a tourist area, disappeared in the mountains of Nepal on Sunday, an official said.
The Tara Airlines plane, which was scheduled to make a 15-minute flight to the mountain town of Jomsom, departed from the resort town of Pokhara, 200 kilometers east of Kathmandu. The plane lost contact with the airport shortly after takeoff.
Police officer Ramesh Thapa said aviation officials had no information about the plane and that searches had begun.
There were six foreign nationals on board, including four Indians and two Germans, a police official said.
In the area where the plane disappeared, it has rained in recent days, but flights have continued normally. Planes in the area usually fly through the mountains and then land in a valley.
This is a very popular area and foreigners climb the mountains in this part. But also pilgrims from India and Nepal visit a temple located in this part.
According to data from the website flightradar24.com, which tracks the route of the planes, the missing plane took off from Pakhara at 04:10 and transmitted the last signal at 04:22.
In 2016, a Tara Airlines plane traveling on the same route collided shortly after taking off from the airport, killing all 23 people on board.
