‘The president is fine,’ the White House said in a dry statement after Joe Biden fell off his bicycle on Saturday.
The statement clarified that the president did not need medical attention after the incident. “As the President said, his foot was caught on the pedal during the descent and he is fine,” the White House said.
Biden crashed while completing a bike ride alongside First Lady Jill Biden. The president left the group as he rode his bicycle toward a crowd that had gathered nearby. Biden stopped and appeared to grab his foot on the pedal as he tried to get off.
US Secret Service agents quickly aided the President after his ouster. The crowd applauded when the President, who turns 80 in November, rose to his feet again. Asked by a child in the crowd what it was like to run the country, Biden joked, “Oh, it’s like any other job.”
“Some parts are easy, some are difficult,” he added.
