Russian forces now control two Ukrainian nuclear power plants and are advancing toward a third, the Ukrainian president said during a phone call with US senators on Saturday.
Volodymyr Zelensky said the third power plant in danger of being attacked is the Yuzhnoukrainsk nuclear power plant, located 120 kilometers (75 miles) north of Mykolaiv, one of several cities the Russians were trying to keep under siege on Saturday.
One of the Russian-controlled power plants is the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant in the southeastern city of Enerhodar, the largest in Europe.
The other is Chernobyl, which is not active but still has staff and is maintained.
Previous Russian bombings ignited a fire at the Zaporizhzhia plant, which was extinguished without releasing radiation.
Meanwhile, in the late hours of Saturday, Russian bombardment continued in several Ukrainian cities, while a third round of negotiations was announced between the parties on Monday.
