Ukrainian internationals and officials have recently raised accusations that the Russians are not only indiscriminately killing civilians, but also raping and torturing women in the cities they occupy.
A Kherson resident, who chose to identify herself as Elena rather than the real one, testified that two soldiers raped her.
“I was in a grocery store and I was standing in line when some Russians came after me and started talking to the locals. I do not know exactly what they talked about. The only thing I heard is that one of the locals points his finger at me and says “she’s a banderovka there” a derogatory term for Ukrainians who accuse them of fascism. “I quickly left the store for home, but I did not have time to pick up the phone, they forcibly entered the house and then pushed me into bed and stripped me,” said Elena.
Thankfully Elena says that at the beginning of the war she removed her children from their home and they were not witnesses of the shocking scene.
“It was terrible, I thought I no longer had to live. But the war will end one day, we will take revenge. “And I will tell all the locals who made fun of me,” she added.
Elena is already on her way to join her children in a safe city, where she will be able to visit a doctor.
