The Special Court against Crime and Corruption requests an abbreviated trial of former Lushnja Mayor Fatos Tusha and 18 other defendants who were investigated by the SPAK.
Recall that Tushe requested summary judgment on February 24 during the preliminary hearing. It is expected that the process against the former officials of the municipality of Lushnja will close with three sessions where after reading the accusations of SPAK and the claim, Gjkko will give a final decision. The 19 SPAK defendants are being tried by summary judgment and for this they benefit 1/3 of the reduction of the sentence.
For the other two, Ujar Murati and Natasha Myrtaj, the trial was separated and they will be subject to the ordinary trial. The SPAK has charged the suspects with “abuse of duty” and violation of equality in tenders.
According to SPAK, the former mayor and his subordinates are suspected of abusing a tender worth 24 million ALL for the rehabilitation of an irrigation canal in Bishqem, Lushnja. SPAK claims that the former mayor of Lushnja, has committed violations for awarding the tender in favor of his friends.
The investigative file states that although the winner was announced ‘Euro Alb’, the works for the rehabilitation of the irrigation canal were carried out by Ibrahim Lami’s company, who often appeared in conversations and wiretaps, and was labeled as ‘friend’ of the former mayor.
Another episode against the former mayor is related to a phone call in which a resident asks him for help because an inspector had suspended the construction of the apartment, and he responds “Tell me I talked to the boss.”
